John Cacioppo is a leader in the field of loneliness and connection.  This excellent Ted talk outlines the basis on which Campaign for Connection is based.

In this 18-minute video, he discusses the apparent non-common-sense of some scientific research, the impact loneliness has, the negative perceptions surrounding it, the paradox of how we increasingly live our lives and celebrate individualism, the 3 components of connection and how we can approach it when we notice the feeling.
