Why Choose Counselling West Bridgford?

Sometimes, the hardest conversations are the ones we need to have with those closest to us. If your relationship feels stuck in a cycle of conflict, silence, or disconnection, you don’t have to navigate it alone.

I specialise in helping couples understand the deeper patterns affecting their relationship.

My name is Michelle, and I help partners move beyond “blame” to understand the deeper dynamics of their relationship. My specialist knowledge gained at the Couples Institute, helps me support couples to rebuild trust, improve communication, and discover a deeper joy in their partnership.

Core Services

Couples Therapy

Relationships are a journey of constant change. I work with couples at all stages, from those facing significant trauma or infidelity to those simply wanting to communicate more effectively. Using a growth-oriented framework, we look at the patterns holding you back and the tools that can bring you closer.

Individual Therapy for Relationship Issues

Relationship health starts with your own inner work. If you are struggling with self-esteem, how you relate to others, or navigating a breakup, I offer one-to-one sessions to help you find your footing and build healthier future connections. We will begin to understand your relationship patterns, and how to change the script.

Individual Psychotherapy and Counselling for Anxiety, Stress & Trauma

I also support individuals experiencing anxiety, stress, grief, trauma and difficult life transitions. I provide a confidential, non-judgmental space where we can explore, together, the challenges you’re dealing with.

My Approach: Growth, Not Just Resolution

Traditional therapy often focuses on solving a single problem. My approach to couples work focuses on long-term growth.

We don’t just “fix” the current argument or problem; we look at the underlying “why.”

  • Confidential & Non-Judgmental: A neutral space where all voices are heard equally.
  • Couples Therapy: Conducted exclusively in-person to ensure the most effective environment for connection and communication.
  • One-to-One Therapy: Available via your choice of in-person, video, or telephone sessions to suit your preference.

Reviews

I know testimonials or reviews can really help you make your decision as to which psychotherapist / counsellor you choose.

Having said that, I whole-heartedly support the UKCP’s ethical standards, which prohibit accredited psychotherapists from obtaining testimonials / reviews from clients.  This is to avoid exploitation, and the risk of fake reviews.

UKCP Accredited therapists are required to re-accredit every 5 years, and we have demanding requirements for cpd. The UKCP has also won awards for it’s official register.

So you can be reassured that all UKCP Accredited therapists have not only been trained to the highest level, but someone is checking we stay current and practice to the highest ethical standards.

And by checking someone is on their register, you can be sure the person you choose is presenting credentials that are valid.

See my profile on the UKCP website.
