Happy 5th Birthday Counselling West Bridgford!

Counselling West Bridgford is five today!  That’s another year that’s whizzed by.

I’m pleased to say I’m as busy as ever with the pipeline of new clients continuing at the level I need. Since the beginning of 2025 it feels as if the volume of enquiries has stepped up a level. I’ve always had the ambition to bring on Associates to Counselling West Bridgford but finding the right people and having available affordable space for them to work from is a challenge.

I always read last year’s anniversary post. I’m delighted to say that the property I had offered on and had rejected last year is now mine!

I announced the move in a post last week – I’m moving at the beginning of next month to Hilton Crescent. It’s still in West Bridgford, but I now own the property which is a huge cost saving without compromising on space or location.

I also notice my goal was to get to a place where my only marketing cost was my website so I have no need to pay other agencies or platforms. I have to say I think I’ve reached that point although I confess I haven’t yet quite had the courage to cancel my final remaining directory listing. I approached that goal by adding couples therapy services but also by signing up to insurance companies (making sure I choose those that pay decent rates) as well as keeping an eye on my website SEO. This year I have confirmed my BUPA listing which adds to the AXA listing I already had.

I really feel I’ve settled into my couples therapy work this year and it’s playing an increasing role in my practice. Every successful interaction I have with couples further confirms my confidence in the developmental model which underpins my couples therapy work. It’s so wonderful to see couples turning a corner and developing a new relationship that is stronger than they ever had before.

Having said that, it is my work with individuals that provides the foundation of my work, with over 3,500 appointments and 337 clients since the start.

I also noticed last year that my writing had reduced to almost nothing and I have to say that’s continued this year.  Even this post is a hurried creation over breakfast yesterday. I really love writing so it’s quite sad that this is what I’ve sacrificed while I’ve been paying so much time and attention to both buying and renovating many property but also time dedicated to my work as a trustee at UKCP.

So next year? I’m looking forward to settling in to the new office, and getting back to the writing.  UKCP finally gets to focus on it’s strategy delivery so I’m excited to be part of that. Personally I’m hoping to get on a path to finding a paid Non-Executive Director role. I’d like to say I’m looking forward to a quiet year, but knowing me that’s highly unlikely!
